Question: Brian Soccer player was released (using Form 1606 Section 2) last October because he broke his ankle.  He is now healed and wants to rejoin his team, what paper work is required to get him back on his team?

Answer: Brian must be transferred back onto the original roster.  If he wishes to play for another team then he must first be transferred onto the original team then transferred off onto the new team. A further explanation can be found in PIM 97-1 (Clarification of Transfer Rule):

bullet

A transfer means the movement of a currently or previously rostered CYSA-North player onto another roster, or player who returns to the same roster, within the same seasonal year.

bullet

"Previously rostered player" means a player whose team has finished the season or whose team has been disbanded.

bullet

Any player who is released from a team and wishes to play again shall be eligible to transfer to another team with the approval of the District Commissioner or District Registrar.

bullet

A team may only have three transfers onto their roster and still be eligible for competitions as defined under section four (4) of the CYSA Constitution. Each movement of a player from one team to another is considered a transfer and shall be counted against the team receiving the player. There is no limit to the number of times a player may transfer.

Question: Brian Soccer player was released (using Form 1606 Section 2) last October because he broke his ankle. He is now healed and wants to play again and his original team has eighteen (18) players on it. What paper work is required to get him back on a team?

Answer: Brian may be transferred onto another CYSA-North roster only with the consent of the District Commissioner. A further explanation can be found in PIM 97-1 (Clarification of Transfer Rule). Complete a Team Roster Change in Status Form Section 3 -Transfer (Form 1606 Section 3), & submit it to the District for approval.  If the transfer is approved, the District Registrar then retrieves Brian's US Youth Soccer pass and he's ready to play!

Question: Can a player registered with a 2006/07 US Youth Soccer member pass be a guest player with a team registered for the 2005/06 season?

Answer: No! Guest players must be registered for the same seasonal year as the team they wish to be a guest player for.

Question: Our team wants to go to an out-of-state tournament and take five (5) guest players. Can we?

Answer: Yes. PIM 99-2 states: The maximum number of guest players allowed will be determined from official rules or policies of the tournament.  In no instance may the number of guest players on the CYSA Official Travel Roster exceed seven (7) players. Teams traveling outside of CYSA-N jurisdiction to play in an out-of-state, US Youth Soccer-sanctioned tournament may add guest players to their CYSA Official Travel Roster (blue). The CYSA Official Travel Roster, which limits teams to a maximum of 18 players, must be completed to indicate which players are guest players (3:09:01).

Question: Can an eleven (11) year old player who has competed on an under 14 team move back to under 12 team during the same seasonal year?

Answer: Yes, but only in the same or higher classification (Division 1, 3, 4, 5) otherwise the team becomes classified at the higher level and maybe disqualified from State competition.

Question: How many times can a player transfer in one seasonal year?

Answer: There is no limit to the number of times a player can transfer. HOWEVER, teams are limited to three (3) transfer ONTO their CYSA-North rosters each year.

Question: Can a player register using his/her middle name in place of his/her first name?

Answer: Yes as long as the Registration Policy RP 1:2:0 is followed.

Question: Can a player register using a step father's last name, when that name doesn't appear on their birth certificate?

Answer: No! Refer to Registration Policy RP 1:2:0 (6).  It is suggested that the parents formally change the child's name through the legal court system.

Question: Once a player has participated in his/her Association Cup, can they transfer to another team to play in State Cup?

Answer: No! Player can only play in one or other State competitions each seasonal year.  Please refer to the State Cup & Association Cup rules for more information.

Question: Can a "Division 4" player play up on a "Division 3" team as a guest player without jeopardizing his Association Cup eligibility?

Answer: No! The Association Cup rules clearly state that a player must have played solely within Division for the entire year.
